Rovaniemi railway station-one of the country's oldest stations-opened in 1909. From the Rovaniemi station, you could make your way to Oulu, Tampere, Helsinki, and Turku via a direct daytime or night train. Currently, only one overnight train runs north of Kemijärvi.

There are 11 tracks in the station, three platforms, restaurants, vending machines, restrooms, loading docks for car carriers, and service assistance. However, the station's waiting rooms are not open 24/7.

At Rovaniemi Central Station, you can grab a coffee while waiting for your train at one of the many cafes and kiosks. Credit cards are accepted for all three types of lockers, which can hold three suitcases. If you would like to explore the city without a suitcase, you can also store it.

There is also free wireless internet access, toilets, and comfortable waiting areas. In addition, if you leave your luggage at the station for more than seven days, your luggage is placed in a luggage room.
