As soon as a new line with Helsinki was established, the first Turku station was built 145 years ago along new railway tracks leading to Tampere. The station began receiving frequent traffic after 23 years. As compared to the old Turku station, which was rebuilt in 1940, the current station (built in 1940) is much more modern and minimalist in design.

The Turku Central Railway Station has two platforms and four tracks and is a vital stop on the lines connecting Helsinki, Joensuu, Naantali, and Uusikaupunki. It is open daily from early in the morning until late in the evening.
